Take Back The Night
The 18th Annual Take Back the Night march and rally "Reaching Out of the Darkness and Into the Light," to raise awareness about and stop violence against women, begins in front of Sherman Hall at 6:30 p.m. with T-shirt and light stick sales, a book signing and sale by WIU student Erin Merryn, author of "Stolen Innocence", and a resource table fair. The rally begins at 7:00 p.m. with speakers and performers. The march begins at 7:30 p.m. from Sherman Hall to Chandler Park Gazebo, where the rally continues at 8:00 p.m. with speakers and performers.
Donations will be accepted for luminaries honoring victims and survivors.
The event is sponsored by the WIU Women's Center, WIRC-CAA Victim Services, University Counseling Center, Feminist Action Alliance and numerous campus and community agencies and organizations.
